Eyes Closed
Traffic: a dozen yards left,
A hundred yards behind,
Half a mile right;
Birds: sitting in the trees,
Sitting on the fence,
Chasing through the air;
An animal in the bushes,
A siren in the distance,
The wind in the shelter roof.
Suddenly the rail sings,
The tram rattles into the station,
I open my eyes.
