The tables were laid out
with books in perfect piles.
I saw them from a distance, with a sigh.
A book fair, I gave a cheer
as I raced along the aisles.
It was something that I never could pass by.
I never stopped to think
that I was in a foreign land
in China where I now had come to dwell,
and the books held only words
that I couldn't understand
a torment from my special perfect hell.
